Seeing a smile on a child’s face is priceless. A child’s smile represents the joy of learning from the world around them and the endless opportunities the future holds. I see a future of unlimited potential and many opportunities to spread their wings and change the world.
In this fast paced and unpredictable world, protecting that smile is a responsibility that cannot be taken lightly. A parent, grandparent, Godparent, aunt or uncle, or any responsible child caregiver must understand the inherent risks that are present in our everyday routines. Being a parent of three children myself, I know and understand how busy these everyday routines can be. But I also know that parents will do anything for their children and make protecting them the highest priority in their life. I applaud parents and caregivers for their dedication and commitment in dealing with the daily grind that being responsible for a child demands and I offer this website to assist them.
In the summer of 2009, I had the unique opportunity to take the summer off and spend it with my two boys. We did many things I have never done before and visited places I have never have gotten to experience as a Dad. We went to many public parks, lakes, malls, walks and also visited local libraries. We had a blast. It was also a time where I had a chance to sit back and partake in a hobby called “people watching.” During this time, I had a chance to interact with parents who were watching their children. When I shared with them my past security career, the conversation usually went to them telling me about observations they have made about security and asking my opinion on what they should or could have done regarding various situations. They wanted to know more about what to look for and who to look for. So that is why I decided to write a family security resource book that will answer their questions of how to keep their family safe.
In this book, "Securing Smiles A Guide To Family Security", I use scenarios (based on real life incidences) to describe everyday threats and to identify proactive steps for families that will mitigate the risk of violence and crime against family members. I firmly believe if you are aware of your surroundings and follow basic principles and methods, you can deter criminals from invading your personal life.
